Pet sitting in Vinohrady
Vinohrady is Prague at its most liveable: tall apartment houses, wide leafy avenues and two large parks within walking distance of almost every front door. Hardly anyone here has a garden, so a dog's day is built out of walks and out of the neighbours who share them. On Petswap that care is thanked in Care Points rather than cash.

A pet owner's guide to Vinohrady
Handy local knowledge for keeping a pet happy here.
Riegrovy sady, and the one place the leash comes off
Riegrovy sady is the closest thing the district has to a communal garden, and the promenade named after Paweł Adamowicz looks straight across at the Castle and the roofs of the old city. Inside the park a dog stays on the lead. The exception is the dog meadow along Vozová street at the top edge, where Prague 2 has granted an exemption from the citywide ban on free running, and it is not restricted to particular hours. Anywhere else in Prague the rule is simple: off the leash only where a green pictogram says so.
Grébovka is a leash park, all of it
Havlíčkovy sady, which locals only ever call Grébovka, drops down the hillside towards Nusle around a working vineyard of roughly 1.7 hectares, with an artificial grotto below it. There is no free running area anywhere in the park, so the lead stays on from one gate to the other. Dogs are barred completely from the children's playground at the corner of Rybalkova and U Havlíčkových sadů, as they are from playgrounds across Prague.
A district with courtyards instead of gardens
Vinohrady was built in closed blocks, so a flat here opens onto a stairwell and a courtyard, never a lawn. Every toilet break is a trip down to the pavement, which is exactly why neighbours here end up in each other's flats holding a lead. Náměstí Míru and náměstí Jiřího z Poděbrad are the two centres of daily life, the second with a farmers market from Wednesday to Saturday, and many cafés along Korunní, Slezská and Francouzská will let a settled dog lie under the table if you ask at the door. Vets and pet shops are unusually thick on the ground along the main avenues, and it is worth finding yours before you need it.

Pet sitting in Vinohrady: common questions
Does my dog need a ticket on the metro or the tram?
Not inside Prague. Your own valid PID ticket covers a dog too, provided it is on a short leash and muzzled for the whole journey. A dog in a fully closed carrier with a waterproof base, up to 25 x 45 x 70 cm, rides free and needs no muzzle. Beyond the city boundary, in the outer PID zones, a dog costs 25 CZK on paper or 23 CZK in the app. One local warning: the escalator at náměstí Míru is 87 metres long, and a dog meeting moving stairs for the first time is better carried.
What does dog care cost in Vinohrady?
Paid care in Prague runs roughly 400 to 900 CZK a night at a dog hotel and roughly 400 to 800 CZK a day with a professional sitter. Those ranges are what commercial care costs, not what Petswap costs. Petswap has no money in it: a host lists a nightly figure in Care Points, you earn points by looking after someone else's pet, and points are never cashed out. The city dog fee is separate, 1,500 CZK a year for a dog kept in a flat, paid to Prague 2 or Prague 3 depending on which side of the boundary your street falls.
